INTRODUCING LES BRUCE
Genuine Qualifications
Les Bruce began his professional dog-training
career as an operational handler with the New Zealand Police.
In that capacity he gained the qualifications "PD Ex
& TD Ex". These are world-recognised and the highest
awards attainable for dog training. With his dog, Gina,
Les won the Erridge Trophy - a prestigious award for operational
New Zealand Police dog-handlers. In later years, Les became
officer-in-charge of a regional dog section.
Les extended his practical knowledge and expertise by studying
and gaining a first-class pass in canine behaviour at Massey
University Veterinary Faculty.
Wide Experience
Les's experience with dogs began while growing
up with a dog-loving family who bred and showed Scottish
Terriers. This introduced Les to the wonderful world of
dogs and began a lifelong passion for understanding and
working with these remarkable animals.
Training police dogs was therefore a natural career choice
and led to years of experience with working dogs and with
judging obedience trials
On completion of his police career, Les launched his highly
successful business as a professional trainer and behaviour
consultant. Since then, Les has trained and modified the
behaviour of thousands of dogs and puppies.
Real Expertise
Effective dog handling requires outstanding
skill and ability. With qualifications, experience and a
life-long passion for dogs, Les has developed his exceptional
talent to "think dog" - to get into a dog's mind
by observing its actions and body language. This understanding
has led to the development of a wide range of gentle, non-aggressive,
positive reinforcement techniques with which Les has gained
remarkable success
